About My Work
I make one off and finely crafted wearable art -
I also create highly textured wall art using wet felting techniques to bond and sculpt natural materials, sometimes overlaid with hand or machine stitching.
I make lampshades using linen dyed and embellished with machine embroidery and with a technique of laminating images onto fine silk.
My work is inspired by sketches and photographs of landscape and natural objects that I experience. Recent work reflects treasures in nature.
My work is always influenced by the qualities and characteristics of natural materials as I work with them.
About me
With a degree in Fine Art and English I enjoyed a successful career in teaching, research and writing working mainly in Manchester and Leeds. But I sustained a passion for and active interest in textiles and fashion alongside my professional life.
For the last 10 years I have focused on developing my work as a textile artist.
